A Message from Head of Department

The aim of the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) is to provide a programme which covers the fields of business and information technologies with interdisciplinary understanding for students. In recent years, information systems have found wide usage area in the business world as well as in every part of life. For this reason, it is expected that today's business executives will be able to benefit effectively from their information systems. In accordance with this expectation, integrated programmes with management sciences and information systems have become preferred departments in the US and European universities in recent years.

In the first year of four-year undergraduate programme, our students are introduced to basic management information concepts which will lay foundation for the courses that they will take in the following years. In addition, English language skills and capability of the use of computer technologies are increased.

In the second year, the importance of management information systems in the contemporary, national and global society, functional features of MIS and quantitative decision making techniques are covered.

In the third year, functional and interdisciplinary areas of management information systems, research and decision support system are covered, information systems management integrity is taught and thus management and research skills of students are reinforced.

In the fourth year, management knowledge is strategically discussed, and competencies of students are developed with information system specialist courses, projects, applications in a functional field which they are interest in. Our students are getting ready for high technology society as an expert/consultant. Our students, who wish, will be able to exchange experience and knowledge of their courses with their peers in the framework of Erasmus Exchange Programme, if they fulfil the necessary obligations. Our students also have the opportunity to continue working in related Associations, to develop their theoretical knowledge, to use the knowledge they have gain in different ways and to exchange opinions by meeting known people and managers in their fields.

Turkish is the medium of instruction. One year English preparatory school is optional.
